Sweet, yet another excuse on why they aren't working on KH3 or DQ or VS.
How many projects do they currently have going on right now???
DQ is handled by another team (aside from DQX, which SE internally developed due to their knowledge of the MMO infrastructure), Armor Project is Hori's studio and they usually hire a developer to actually develop said games. In VII 3DS case it is ArtePiazza.
We won't see DQXI anytime soon because of DQX Wii U not releasing until next year and DQVII 3D.
So no, SE is working on DQ because of DQX and the updates plus Wii U release, but they usually don't, merely just publish the games. And AP is working on DQVII.
And this Airborne Brigade has been out in Japan for a while, SE NA is just releasing it here, doesn't affect said other titles that SE JP is working on or has yet to start on.
My bad I thought Square bought Enix.
Face it since the merger they relegated the better series (DQ) to second class status.
DQ is hardly second class status in Japan, it's always been more popular there and still is. DQVIII, DS remakes, DQIX, DQX, DQVII 3DS remake, DQM remake, etc.
It's the rest of the world where it is so much popular, nor has it ever been, though with things like DQIX it's done better.
And Enix was the one who merged with Square (and they were hesitant due to the Spirits Within debacle), but Enix had a deal with Hori which still remains in place, he retains most of the creative control and leads Armor Project on the games, and the main 3 behind all the games, Yuji Hori as writer, Koichi Sugiyama as composer and Akira Toriyama as the artist, and they typically bring in another developer to actually develop said games.
From Chunsoft (original games) to Heartbeart (DQVII PS1/DQIV PS1), to ArtePiazza (DS remakes and 3DS DQVII) to Level 5 (DQVIII and DQIX), only reason they had SE working on DQX was because of it being an MMO and SE having knowledge of the infrastructure.
But, DQ is more or less Hori and Armor Project, all SE really does is promote and publish the games and reap the benefits.
If Square isn't holding them back then why haven't they made a main (numbered) DQ this gen??
DQ8 = PS2 DQ9 = DS
P.S. I would buy the crap out of a 3DS DQ 7 remake though.
Motomu Toriyama is the worst writer in the history of video games, if you agree add this quote.
DQX is a main numbered game for the Wii and upcoming Wii U.. It may be an MMO, but so was FFXI and I consider that in my top 5, and the creator of the series has wanted to do an MMO for going on like 13 years before they released X.
And because they always go to the highest selling systems, which is why I have a feeling DQXI will end up on 3DS.
And they've also done a remake of DQM for 3DS, Slime Morimori 3 for the 3DS, and a DQM Joker 2/Pro for the DS, and the Wii Anniversary Edition with NES/SNES versions of I-III. And DQVII 3DS releases in February for Japan.
