Till I played FF9. i just got out of the evil forest and so far the game is EPIC. all the characters are likable and filled with personality..even the dude who turned into stone :( This game is so good man, it could possibly be better than even THE ff7 and ff10. anyone else agree? Zidane and vivi are amazing characters, and steiner is funny as hell
FF13 series has great graphics and voice acting, and great battle animations, but really nothing can touch the greatness that is the old FFs
Agreed IX is the most underrated FF in the playstation era of Final Fantasy. It plays just like the classic FFs.
"How do you prove we exist? Maybe we don't exist." -Vivi
Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, Barrett, Red XIII, Cid, Yuffie, Vincent vs. Zidane, Garnet, Steiner, Freya, Quina, Amarant, Eiko, Vivi
The rest suck. --------------------------------
Of PS1 games, max of 3 points per category. (ties are intermediate half points)
Overall Gameplay: IX=3; VII=2; VIII=1 Battles: IX and VII = 2.5; VIII=1 Story: IX=3; VII and VIII=1.5 Graphics (overall): IX=3; VIII=2; VII=1 Character Progression (stats and abilities): IX and VII = 2.5; VIII=0.5 Ability to relate to characters: VIII=3; VII=2; IX=1
Overall: IX=15; VII=11.5; VIII=9
So there, discuss this, ff7 fanboys. you barely beat ff8, not even close to IX.
Even FF11 has story and characters miles better than all this 13 nonsence
FFXI has probably one of the best stories in all of Final Fantasy. The problem was that it took an admittedly very long while to open up, to the point you'd almost have to be at endgame or have someone (read: a group of someones) rush you through to see it.
It's certainly better than the games that came after it, and a good portion of the ones that came before it.
As for the characters, same thing. They open up as you get further into the story, and get far more interesting.
