Overall, IX had the best balance I'd say

I feel that FFVI, VII, and IX had the right balance. They had silly moments and very serious moments.

Agreed. I also think V handled its silliness well, and X and XII handled their seriousness well. Even though I liked both, XIII didn't do serious as well and XIII-2 didn't do silly as well.

I'll admit FFXIII took itself a bit too seriously but I didn't mind.

It does. It needs to be a little more light hearted and stop taking its material dead serious.

Everythings better than the awful dialogues in XIII-2 and the upcoming LR.

I like serious games. Also, X wasn't serious in my view compared to something like XII, and X-2 was a laughing stock. So while I like FF's to take themselves seriously, I don't think they take themselves too seriously.

12 took itself more serious than 10, but 10 had the more serious themes.

I agree it had serious themes, but it contrasted that with things like Wakka's goofiness and the laughing scenes etc. whereas XII remained focused and fixated on the empire.

The next FF should be a comedy. It shall be called Final Fantasy: Let's Get Silly.
