I agree with everything he said, especially about Lightening, how her defenders consider her a hero is beyond me.
Do we consider the hundreds of troops Cloud and co. kill, the fact they are considered terrorists by the current regime, or that some of the plans considered can be seen as assassination plots?
Do we take into consideration that Squall is a mercenary who has killed for money? That he kills people, "just doing their job"?
Do we think about the hundreds of nameless Russian soldiers James Bond kills? Sure, they are trying to kill him... but to them, he's an enemy combatant, a spy, and a threat. And they have families too.
What about those soldiers Wolverine kills in X-Men 2? Sure, they were storming a school full of children, kidnapping said children, and would have killed the adults they found... But they were just following orders.
How about Zack at the end of Crisis Core? He killed an entire Battalion of men just in the attempt to survive and keep Cloud alive! Those men all had families! They were just following orders!
See, you can't bring up the fact that Lightning and co. are killing soldiers "just doing their job... which apparently includes genocide, slaughtering the innocent, and rounding up even more civilians in preparation for another genocide" without applying the same logic to all stories and games. Hell, even Mario can be construed as a homicidal maniac in this case.
Currently going "squa squa squa!" To the Devil May Cry franchise: http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ls0e5g1oWn1qjkv09o1_500.gif... at least for now.
