There is a door at the bottom of the Rotunda. Go through there

just to clarify (I havent tried your door yet, about to check)

I mean where does one go to advance in the dungeon, not return to the surface

If I remember correctly you take that door and eventually the path will split: one path will lead back to the surface and the other will take your further down the dungeon.

oh god. wow, yeah that was really easy to spot. I was running around the whole dungeon trying to find something to do. Geez that was embarrassingly easy, I feel silly.

Don't feel that way. Some paths are really easy to miss in BBI.
