Why not just cherry pick all the fun stuff? How about some yeti, something like Nessie, maybe a Juon/Grudge-style ghost girl, wildly out of place plague doctors, Mbembe(would need to be significnatly bigger than a dragon to be justified though), a colony of gorgons, and why not some alien entity that doesn't really fit the typical stuff? Like Cthulhu, hell, Cthulhu's public domain too right? Why not Cthulhu? Just let some westerners write the Cthulhu parts, I don't trust Japanese writers with tentacles at their disposal >_>
To each their own, I guess. if it turns out to be a crazy-enough-to-work idea, then by all means, let the fans get what they want, I personally wouldn´t feel too motivated to get it. I haven´t been a gamer for too long and as such, I ignore if an open world rpg set on Japan has ever been released, but after finishing Dark Arisen, it really got me hyped about the mix, as much as I´m aware of the possibilities of happening being close to none, one can dream, right?
