That’s gambling and no different than someone risking money on a pokie machine or card game with the intention of winning money.

The difference is that with a loot box, you get something every time. There is no outcome where you don't receive something. If you cannot grasp why this makes it different, then you really need to stop "debating" this issue.

Gambling is defined as risking something for a reward

Again kid, the broad definition isn't the same as the specific one.
Anything can be a gamble with the broad definition.
For example, you feel like you need to fart but it seems pretty hefty.
So you take a gamble and fart.
The Risk, you s*** your pants
The Reward, you relieve some pressure.
In your case you s*** your pants.

You get something every time you put money into a pokie machine too - you get to play the machine. With poker you get to play a hand. With black jack you get to play a hand.

Would you think that if every time you put money down on a pokie machine or a card game and you got 1 cent back that it’s no longer gambling?

What about casinos that give free drinks for being in there? If I’m getting drinks then is that no longer gambling because technically I am getting something in return for my money ?
Yeah, well, you know, that's just like, uh, your opinion, man- The Dude

Strawmen don't help your "argument."

It’s not strawman when it’s true though is it? Do you deny that you don’t get to play a hand each time you put money down to play poker?

Would you consider it not to be gambling if every time you made a bet or put money into a pokie machine, that you get 1 cent in return every time?

What if I put a pokie machine in the kids arcade and every spin they always got a cent no matter what. No longer gambling?

But they're not true, so they're strawmen. When you're ready to actually discuss this without fallacies, we'll talk. Until then, I'm not wasting my time.

You arent gambling with loot boxes because once you pay for the loot box, you dont stand a chance to get that money back ( legitimately)

You are paying for the experience.

Thanks for dodging the questions and proving you’ve got nothing

It's not dodging the question; you're comparing unlike things. Yes, when you buy in to a poker game you get to play poker. However, unlike with loot boxes, a lose state exists. You can (and frankly, often will) walk away with nothing. With a loot box, this is never the case. There is no lose state (because there is no win state). It's like buying a pack of trading cards or a blind bag toy. You will always get something. It may not be the something you wanted, but it is something, and it is something every single time.
