It tells us rumors are stupid haha

It's the same source as before just from a different website, which is just how the old rumors gained traction. There wasn't any "massive amounts of evidence" pointing towards always online, it was one anonymous source that just snowballed and got reported on a lot.

To be fair, this rumor does sound a lot more plausible than others, but nobody should base their purchasing decisions on rumors, good or bad.

If this is true, which I hope it is, I will be buying one. However it sounds a bit unlikely due to the high cost all these features would be.

If the next xbox has backwards compatibility via a real xbox 360 cpu, that would be great. It should work much better than the emulation of Xbox 1 games on the 360.

The problem I see is how hard it would be to program for a setup like that. Wasn't all the custom programming one of the issues developers had with the ps3?

One way to utilize two cpus would be to have the xbox system tasks (Chat, notifications, etc) offloaded to the xbox 360 cpu during game play, while the game plays only on the new cpu. The dev kits could have shipped out without the game developers having known about the second CPU, as it would be mostly invisible during gameplay. Two CPUs would also increase the performance of the game itself, as it wouldn't have to share the main CPU with system tasks.

I really don't know if I believe it, but I hope this rumor is true just for backwards compatibility reasons. I guess we will find out in the next few months.

The part of that tells you it's garbage is when he claims the 360 SOC(system on a chip) will be used to enhance the power of Durango games. That's dumb. Microsoft would never do that since doing it means they could never remove the SOC later in the console's life to reduce cost.

I don't think MS removed anything from the 360 when they redesigned it and dropped the price did they? I just heard that they made the thing smaller and they added like 5 usb ports and built in Wifi.

I doubted that the console was going to be always online, but the several stories that coincided made me skeptical.

It was one of those "they can't be that stupid...can they?" moments.
I had the same thought when they announced that everyone must have highspeed internet to use xbox live...

at the same time I'm sorry to hear that they won't be at least matching PS4's power as far as RAM

the specs say 8GB of GDDR3 memory, while PS4 was announced to have 8GB of GDDR5

It may not be evident early but in the long run PS4 will out perform the 720 by a large margin...

The rumours say DDR3, not GDDR3. The G is important.
