Actually they do as less sales means less games released.

PR's job is to promote the product for sales and to maintain a good image which in turn makes their brand more likely to be remembered and picked up in the future.

If PR fails before launch than it will effect your enjoyment as the PR on the other team is hitting all the right notes.
