Now, I'm not saying the thing is the best thing ever, but I find it pretty cool that I can not be in front of the thing, walk in, say xbox on, sit down, and the it signs me in because it recognizes me. The kinect seems pretty responsive to the commands it has, not laggy or anything.

I use it to skype, beats my MacBooks quality. It's unplugged otherwise, I can't do voice command stuff with my kids in bed when I usually play.

i love the Kinect voice controls. somehow, my wife and I used to always lose the tv remote control... but now, it doesn't matter. we just use the Kinect now.

It's really good. It signs me in automatically and recognizes me. Voice commands overall could use some work, but it's not bad either. My favorite is "Xbox Record That" when I get a sweet kill in Titanfall. It gets good use from Just Dance in my living room. It will get even more use in my living room next month when Kinect Sports Rivals drops.

I think it is pretty cool, I don't use it for games at all but do actually use it quite a bit between Skype, the record feature, using it to navigate, and the auto sign in.

It was cool, but it doesn't like to listen to me anymore.

it's a hands free remote control...that isn't 100% accurate...
no games or apps
It's cost far outweighs its usefulness

The Power of a Properly Calibrated Kinect

Except the fact that only a small percentage of owners will ever have an environment where there is hardly any background noise to interfere. Not to mention, any variation in accent affects recognition so people on the west coast and east coast will have different experiences.

So for the 1 in 10 people it works almost all the time, the other 9 out of 10 get getting a worse experience no matter what they do.

Even then, there are thousands of instances where the kinect is recognizing non-people as people. Calibration or not, that is unacceptable.

It's a forced peripheral that isn't very useful. I don't even plug it in anymore.
