Is there any way to tell if your xbox one is a day one edition?

I was asking because it seems that the day one edition is the one with the faulty disc drive.


Only people I know that had a faulty drive are the ones that had the green box (NOT Day One).... but that doesn't mean someone with a Day One didn't have a faulty drive. I just don't know of any that had.


My Day One console worked perfectly.

Yes. Day 1 edition Xbox One systems come in black boxes and have specially labeled controllers that say Day 1 on them. Normal Xbox One systems come in green boxes and and don't have specially labeled controllers. Otherwise they're both the same.

All the disc drives suck and I foresee them all breaking eventually

I have the day one edition and it has the loud faulty disc drive, I noticed it the second I started playing a game at launch. A really loud fizzing noise. Doesn't give me any errors, but the noise is annoying and sometimes really loud.

Mine too and it's not a day one edition.
