That said, seeing frame-rate drops in a 2D title is rather disappointing and not something we'd expect to see on modern hardware with plenty of pixel-pushing power behind it.
We do wonder whether sticking with native 1080p may have been a preferable solution overall on Xbox One.

lol so the Xbox One can't even run this at 1080p properly?

It seems entirely incapable of rendering native 1080p in most games.

I'm really wondering what Wolfenstein will be like, seeing as how that's one of the few games that supposedly will run at 1080p on xbox one.

The topic of resolution is particularly interesting where PS4 and Xbox One are concerned. Child of Light provides us with a crisp 1080p presentation, but some evidence suggests that elements of the presentation are derived from rendering at a much higher resolution and then down-sampling - a process known as super-sampling. The lack of long straight edges makes pixel counting difficult, but our analysis throws up two separate numbers for horizontal resolution - 2304 and 2112 were both extracted from the same scene - while vertical resolution is consistent at 1440. This isn't entirely confirmed, then - it may well be the case that a form of multi-sampling is in effect, but the edge-smoothing is quite unlike any other form of MSAA we've seen before.

Damn man I'm going to have to stop playing Child Of Light because of the youtube video. I was really enjoying it until I found out I can't enjoy this game unless it's 1080p and 60 fps without drops.

Has resolution become the main focus of console wars because games are getting boring?

It had a tiny tiny tiny drop at the beginning and a small one toward the end. Nothing big at all TBQH.

Kinda weird there are any drops at all though, isn't it? It's just a 2d game and even the 360 and PS3 are running it at a solid 60fps.

Yeah it's insane that a game running a bit smoother on consoles that people have 10 years experience coding for than on a console that came out 6 months ago. So weird.

EDIT: Baited by dnmt.

I guess you could say...dnmt is a...master baiter? hehehe ohhh mannnn...I'll see myself out.

It has framerate drops in Peggle 2 as well for some reason.

LOL why? Next gen technology can't handle simpler indie style games now? =(
