I'm having a major problem where even 26MB updates are taking 5-10 minutes to download and my entire internet is affected by the X1 downloading. Is this to do with having to open ports to get rid of a strict NAT, or is the X1's downloading just terrible in general? Having to download a 2.7GB update right now, I'll be here for days at this rate.

Probably something to do with your router/setup.
Highly unlikely that it has anything to do with your x1, wireless or not.

It's your internet. Test your speed on speedtest.net and post the results.

It only ever happens with the X1, though, and that's wired. Ran speedtest and got 5.85mb download and 0.65 upload, surely something from the X1 is causing massive bandwidth usage?

I would also power cycle your router and modem and then do a speed test, who is your internet provider?

Your Ethernet cable is not a crossover cable, or somehow messed up?
Has it always been this slow?

If you can access wifi, is it faster?

Round about the same result, and I'm with Sky.

I usually switch the ethernet cable to the 360 if I wanna play GTA and it works fine on that. It's only ever since I started getting updates on the X1 that the internets been getting hammered.

Try this. Cycle your router/modem.
