Framerate matters in a shooter. FRAMERATE. Christ, this 1080p resolution crap is getting out of control. So I guess these days pretty screenshots are more important that super-smooth gameplay.

Pretty much and since most video media on the net only outputs at 30fps, it seems more and more devs are appealing to what will look best when advertising their game on these sites.

Gamers should care more about FRAME RATE, particularly console gamers. It really pisses me off that the 1080p obsessed Sony fans from sites like NeoGAF have helped to shape gaming in this way.

This is great news for the X1 (im serious).

But the question remains, if the ps4 is objectively more powerful than the X1 (& it is a fact that it is), why isnt there a performance gap between the 2?

Something must be going on, maybe in the end it will equate to poorer LoD in distant objects, more screen tears & frame stuttering on the X1, as with watch dogs & others?

Because there is no reason that this game should run the same on 2 different specced devices.

Yay, I'm going to have that many more pixels of fun now!

But seriously, that's good news not just for Destiny but for future games as well.

True story: the things people have the privilege of complaining about over the Internet aren't really the things that bug them IRL to the same degree. I chose not to get an XboxOne over the game performance issues, but it's not as if you sat me down in front of one that I couldn't forget my small grievances long enough to enjoy the gaming experience. But it's the Internet, we're on a gaming message board so presumably we're all enthusiasts/core gamers, and those fringes of a market are traditionally louder than the others. Add in the fact that criticism is easier than praise of anything and do the math.

People care about these things, especially when they have a choice in the matter. I'm not saying it's not overblown and frequently off-topic because it often is, but small differences like these get picked apart by the fringes of any hobby, and it's not new, and it shouldn't be surprising.

It's only surprising, when the smart people do it.

I'm not a graphics whore (I don't think) but I think that FPS games should have 60 fps. I've been playing Ghosts and BF4 on the One both with 60 fps and then I went back to play BioShock Infinite and WOW that game felt like ass.

It's also why I hated archery in Skyrim. I only used a bow when I could sneak on still targets, f*** that 30 fps aiming.
