Crytek always seemed to push the boundaries with graphics.
But let the gameplay suffer in the process, IMO.
Hope they can turn it around.

#36, are you seriously defending NeoGAF? The place that CliffyB said the following about:

"NeoGAF, I'll let you in on a secret. Most of the (hundreds) of developers I know avoid you like the plague and think you're mostly c**ts."

Yet most developers decide to stay on neogaf and interact with the fans right? Cliffyb doesn't speak for all developers. Besides most of the industry news that bigger sites pick up on like ign, gamespot etc, actually comes from neogaf.

I played the demo for Crysis 2 and didn't really care for it on the 360. No idea why every one seems to like their games. Sure they look good, but it seems the major complaints I read in reviews are the overall gameplay mechanics are overly complicated and clunky. The game reminded me of killzone and having crappy controls.

Crytek is done. Bad business ventures and passed over pricey graphic engine.

yes. Frostbite and UNREAL 4 have proven to look better anyway, and flexible for any developer to use.

For ex. Dragon age 3, Mass Effect 4 and Mirrors Edge 2 all run on frostbite 3. As part of EA's in house company engine standard. Good policy.

Crytek tried to showcase their engine at GDC each year, but most developers end up licensing Unreal, frostbite, or something else. or just use a proprietary one.

It's nothing like Killzone and the controls aren't at all clunky.

The way the controls felt and the way the character moved reminded me of Killzone. Not the game design.

CliffyB is a big dummy. NeoGAF is the single most solid source of information in video games press.

Cliffy B... Hmm, how to address this guy.

Well, first off, anyone that gives themselves the name Cliffy B, you know you're dealing with a real "special guy".

Next, he was an intern and got lucky to be attached to "Gears" franchise in the beginning when other people were doing the driving. When it came his time to shine, he directs Gears 3 & 4 and crash lands the franchise, then goes in a media tour to berate and blame others and is forced to retire for basically gouging the customer for charging DLC skins on the same weapons! Just a skin change = $$ to this guy, thereby pissing everyone off and forgetting to actually make a good game!!
