TOSHIBA Canvio Desk 2TB USB 3.0

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822149522

I bought this drive as it seems this is the almost official external drive for the wii u. well, it's not for x1. Here are the problems:

- Random disconnects
- Games have problems playing. Odd things happen like music cutting out
- Freezes the dashboard often

I have had to factory reset my x1 many times as somehow this drive corrupts dashboard software. For instance, I could no longer download a game till i did a factory reset. Right after the drive disconnected while playing a game I had the above problem and many more.

The drive is a damn nightmare. AVOID. Any else try a drive that causes problems? I would like to know.

I bought a Seagate 1tb at best buy, at first it kept disconnecting when I started playing a game multiple times. I just switched it to a different USB port and it's been perfect since.

I understand. The only reason I tried it is due to it working so well with the wii u. The wii u is a console like the x1 so i assumed this would be a great drive. That was my thinking anyways.

Nah I'm more of a western digital guy. The black and RE drives are the best but pricy. Seagate has great drives and prices too though

Looking for a fast and reliable external drive. Any ideas?

As for the topic, I know I can not be the only one with problems with certain external drives. It would help me and others to know what to avoid. Please share your information.

Thanks.

Oh, I sympathize, I had a seagate barracuda running for over 8 years before I retired it....
