Last year Microsoft confirmed that the X1 will support native 4k games: http://www.polygon.com/2013/5/23/4359450/xbox-one-will-support-4k-output-resolution-and-3d

I'm hoping it's pretty soon. I probably won't even have a 4k tv, but I will definitely be hitting up my local Best Buy to see it.

X1 can't hit 1080p. What makes you think it'll be able to output 4k resolution?

The X1 can hit 1080p. Stop being a fanboy. Anyway TC, as far 4K I doubt that it will be going for native 4k this gen. The TV's themselves are not doing too well. I think it is still too early and the difference only noticeable in larger TV's (which most people don't have)

Whoops, meant to put 1080. And no it can't. It struggles to run games properly at 1080 even with reduced features. Not being a fanboy it's called true facts.

Bone can't CONSISTENTLY hit 1080p so it needs to learn to walk before it learns to run.

The "Xbox cant do 1080p" bandwagon fanboys are going to have a field day with your question.

On a serious note, not for a few years. Besides the fact that AAA games probably wont hit that mark until the next generation of consoles, the smaller scale games that will wont bother doing so for a while. Majority of the population does not own TV's that support 4K so there is no reason to waste resources trying to hit that benchmark.
