I can see you guys like conformity as every site I go to xbots are using the term "salty." Can you guys make up your own stuff? I see now why every person buys call of duty over, and over again. I like the term sheeple better. It's more acurate than salty.

Today after Xbox's gamescom was when the word was put into full use. It was invented back in 1300s when the aliens attacked and the humans became really salty about it.

I agree with this sentiment.

It's not "working", I just find it trite and uninspired.

It's far more satisfying to actually debate than call each other childish names and attack characters.

it was slang in the fighting game community just became more wide spread as the tournaments got a bigger audience.

According to the etymology/word origin section for "salty" at dictionary.com its use to mean angry/irritated was first attested to 1938. It's recent popularity seems to me to have sprung up from overusage at popular streamed fighting game tournaments.
Cheating has gone hand-in-hand with gaming for centuries. Video games in particular often have cheats built right into the game.

I remember when 'QQ' was the term for what salty now implies on GameFAQs about 3 or 4 years ago. Hipsters and their internet memes. *rolls eyes*
