Isn't it the power supply that is drawing the current? Can't see how direct x 12 can lower the power consumption of a power supply, sounds like more smoke and mirrors pr BS

DX12 most significant feature is reduced CPU overhead for GPU calls. Reducing the CPU workload reduces the power draw of the CPU and can overall reduce how much the PSU needs to produce.

A 1000 WATT power supply doesn't always output 1000W. In fact, running a PSU at 90%+ will overwork the power supply. A power supply will adjust how much power it needs to convert based on the load of the components attached.

Because Mantle has Linux support, Steam is trying to get developers to switch over to Linux.

Microsoft had to do something to keep the PC market in terms of games, hence DX12, it's to counter Mantle.

It's because the 'X' in 'Xbox' comes from 'Direct X'. At one point they were going to call it 'Direct Xbox'.
