http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-11-06-bethesda-warns-you-may-need-to-redownload-your-fallout-4-xbox-one-digital-pre-order

Pre-orders made on or before 27th October will be associated with the wrong "stub file", Bethesda has warned in a new forum post.

Anyone affected will need to delete and then redownload the game's file currently registered to their console's hard drive.

However, if you use the Xbox One's Instant On power mode that automatically downloads updates, you don't need to act.

I had not seen this posted yet, and I figured that some people may want to know
According to GameFaqs, There are only 3 types of games: Dudebro, weeaboo and indie.

I'm glad you posted this. I downloaded my copy a few weeks ago and I would have been beyond pissed if I tried to play it when it unlocks on Monday night, only to have to download it again. Thanks!

I posted this on the Fallout 4 board too. Simple solution: switch your console to instant on, turn it off for a few minutes and it should pick up the new file.

I just happened to put mine in instant on Monday or Tuesday before I went to bed and it seems to have downloaded it again.

Edit: I preordered back in August and had the placeholder file. My new download completed last night so now I have the updated file

Well that sucks.

I just preloaded it 2 days ago so I'm ok, but that really blows for people who got it on or before the 27th.

But good that instant on is a simple fix.
I'm a fan of games, not systems.

A fix to a problem that really shouldn't exist in the first place. Why is this even happening?

I'm guessing that they ran into an issue while playing that version of the game and had to fix it before launch.

No it's no big deal since other gaming sites and Bethesda are giving heads up. I guess the problem is in regards to automatic updates that don't automatically do it in energy saver mode. Instant on downloads when the console is on standby. I actually still prefer it this way even if it causes a problem like this. Kind of hard to play always online games with updates running in the background for other games. This way I can download updates in my sleep, and pause them when I wake up
