https://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/3002448/pc-sales-down-in-2016-and-will-continue-declining-in-2017-say-analysts

"The broad PC market has been static as technology improvements have not been sufficient to drive real market growth," said Kitagawa.

https://www.extremetech.com/computing/242572-pc-market-just-fell-fifth-straight-year-unit-shipments-continue-decline

The numbers: 72.6 million PCs were sold in Q4 2016 and 269.7 million PCs were sold throughout the year, Gartner reports. That’s a 6.2% decline compared to 2015, and the fifth straight year of decline. Total PC sales in 2011, for comparison, were 365 million units, or 1.35x higher than they are today. 269.7 million PCs is still a huge number of computers, but wiping out nearly 100 million unit shipments in just five years isn’t good for any market.

Cheaper technology and the fact that the X1X is outperforming current PCs, spells bad news for the future of PC gaming.

You'll likely see a shift to console gaming over the next decade with PC's quickly becoming niche.

And I other news, gaming pc sales have been increasing.

The reason PC sales are decreasing, because there is no need for the majority to buy one, or to upgrade their existing system.

Companies also recycle existing systems instead of buying new ones.

With the increase in processor power over the years on desktop not being that much, and the move to better, more powerful smart phones, phablets, tablets etc..., more and more persons do not need a PC.
Remember, it's only a game, have fun and enjoy.

I've never bought a computer. I've always bought the parts and built my own.

Cause PC gaming seems to be doing just fine.

They've been saying this for over 2 decades. More and more people now build their own PCs. You can find a whole swarm of nerds on youtube who help people build PCs.
