The idea that COD is the same every year is laughable.

It's a dumb meme created by non-fans that haven't invested any time in the series and only see the surface.

The only thing laughable is the lengths to which fans of the franchise go to discredit those who do not share their opinions.

By every metric the hay day of the franchise was during modern warfare and mw2 and the franchise has been consistently declining ever since. Black Ops 2 was the last campaign I actually enjoyed, and I can not begin to convey my disappointment with the Kevin Spacey and Jon Snow campaigns I actually finished on the Xbox One.

Your opinion is discredited the moment you complain about one franchise having the same gameplay whilst admitting that you buy yearly Madden. I'd argue that CoD has way more changes than Madden does with its year to year release. And lol, who the f*** buys CoD for the campaign?

You do realize there is a big difference between football and shooters correct? And for the record, most franchises have more or less the same gameplay year after year. I have no problem with yearly renditions of games, as long as I enjoy them.

More importantly, if the campaign didn’t matter in FPSs then why did first Battlefront get ripped for NOT having a single player campaign? Beyond that, why not just release map packs over and over again as opposed to a whole new 60 I mean 80 dollar game?

So in other words, it’s okay for games like Madden to retain almost entirely the same gameplay mechanics with each entry because you enjoy the games, but COD must change theirs and fans need to stop defending the games because you don’t enjoy it?

I’m not a Souls fan, I actually find them to be too slow paced and clunky feeling to enjoy. I’m not going to go demand that From Software changes what is working for them because I don’t enjoy it and I’m definitely not going to tell their fans that they’re wrong for enjoying it, I’m just going to go play games that I do enjoy more.

That’s the beauty of gaming, there’s a bit of something for everyone. If you don’t like something, that doesn’t mean the fans and devs must change it for you, it just means it’s not for you and that you should probably play something else you’d enjoy more.

Comparing Madden to COD is like comparing apples to pumpkins. Madden doesn’t change because the game of football doesn’t change. The game hasn’t changed much in a hundred years. Offenses and defenses evolve, players become more athletic and what not but it’s still football. Call of Duty doesn’t fit that profile at all.

And I still have yet to see one person refute any of my arguments that isn’t an attack on character. I raise point after point about how I think Call of Duty has failed to evolve, and that after ten years of the exact same multiplayer I refuse to buy it, and all I get is “well maybe you shouldn’t buy it.”

I was under the impression that this topic was a conversation concerning Call of Duty’s merits. Apparently that just won’t be the case.

Address my previous question to you please.
Strength is the only thing that matters in this world, everything else is just a delusion for the weak.

Considering it has changed plenty and people b**** in both directions about it, I don't see your point.
People who regularly play CoD b**** every game about how things change. When they changed too much, they b****ed. They went back to WW2, people b****ed.
b****ing about the changes from CoD to CoD is all people do....and then people b**** that CoD doesn't change? WTF?!?

Why not release roster updates for Madden each year, rather than an entire £50 game?
Yeah, well, you know, that's just like, uh, your opinion, man- The Dude

Which was well over a decade ago? What was your point again?

It’s hilarious you guys are saying that shooters need to evolve, yet say that they can’t because the CoD formula is too popular to allow other shooters to succeed. Firstly that’s untrue. There’s plenty of other shooters succeeding but if the CoD formula works and is so popular then that suggest that there’s nothing that it needs to change at all. I don’t know about you guys but I don’t buy CoD to play Battlefield just like I don’t go to my local Pizza shop to order Fish n Chips.

New environments, weapons, killstreaks, era, story, movement, balance, perks, modes, and gameplay. Basically anything and everything that you can change, tweak, add, balance, and improve while remaining true to the essence of an arcade style military FPS. Basically the core genre remains as it should because that’s why people buy sequels.

Honestly it is easier for somebody to just tell me what COD didn't change anything, and start from there.

I mean the last two were probably the most similar and they were crazy different than the rest of the series because of all the damn wall running.

The last two that were really similar were COD4 and World at War and World at War gave the series Zombies.

MW2 was a fantastic crazy mess of a game full of madness, and took everything up a huge notch.

Blops rolled everything back and gave us a lot of interesting new things for COD like theater mode, & a bunch of custom gun stuff.

MW3 was again a crazy mess of nonsense. It still the only COD with it's weird pointstreak systems. Playing as specialist was cool. Had some unique game modes like Drop Zone, and it stole kill confirmed from Crysis 2 Not the best COD, but you missed out on some odd stuff if you skipped it.

Blops2 - Pick 10 system was pretty massive, plus this game added the whole diamond camo system. I also loved the equipment system in this game. Stuff like Hacker was awesome.

Ghosts - Changed the entire UAV system and added the seeing through walls nonsense among other changes. Also had the maps that warped during the match.

AW - Only game with the Exo suit system.

Blops 3 wall running, specialists, gunsmiths.

Infinity wardfare - Rig system, gun perks
