Too bad Souls isn't a "W" RPG.

Also, Dragon Age Origins at least contained one of the most robust fighting systems I've seen for games of that type.

some people would argue that Souls games are more WRPG than JRPG

And yeah, From Software isn't a western company, it's actually a JRPG even with the dark European fantasy influence in setting.

Bioware figured out the magic formula where adding in "choices" garners universal acclaim. These choices boil down to "Normal person" and "ass".

Oblivion and Skyrim will always have a soft spot in my heart. I would play morrowind but its outdated feel is just to overpowering. I think dark souls could learn from dragons dogma.

Some dwell on the past, others want to preserve the present; I seek the future.

TES do things better than dark souls, just like dark souls does things better than TES.

Stop with this elitist crap. Enjoy them both because each series is fantastic in their own right.
I play Pokemon, a lot.

As are the people that say Souls is a "J" RPG.

This. So much of the souls crowd is so shallow and petty.

1) "WRPG" isn't a genre.

2) Dark Souls is only similar to a very small handful of Western games.

3) It's from an Eastern company.

4) It's not in the "JRPG" genre(ugh)

People need to try to stop shoehorning it into their own preferred region. Its so well loved particularly because it lacks similarities to them(i.e. because it's novel).

I can't think of anything Skyrim did correctly.
