Doesn't it seem rather early for the next generation of Pokemon already? Black and White 2 just came out earlier last year. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to see this new game come out but don't they usually wait longer then this?

Yeah it does seem early but who knows, maybe Nintendo paid GF a bonus to complete their 3DS games quicker so that the 3DS could pick up sales. That'd explain the simultaneous worldwide release as well.

From what I heard, X/Y was in development for seven years.

But even that's too long for Pokemon.

For japan it's not it's been 3 years since Gen V started for overseas though it's only been 2 years.
I've got a quote that embodies you perfectly, but it's seventy-three posts long, has a few massive flowcharts, and lots of Xion-KMA to Me

7 years...? That wouldn't make sense. How many Pokemon would they have needed to plan in advance for that? Not to mention the 3DS wouldn't have been anywhere close to being finished, if even planned for yet. o_o

I agree it doesn't make sense, particularly in this case. There are very few cases where games are designed before the system they are on even exists.

To my knowledge, that has never been the case with the Pokemon games. They have pretty much always been designed with their intended systems in mind.
We shall rise again to start anew.

Alright, thanks for the responses. Maybe it just seemed like it's been a short while but I forgot Japan has had Black/White for a long time.
