Grass one. The only sub-type I can see working for the Firefox right now is Psychic.

Previously, I would have said Froakie...but someone pointed out that he is based more on the generic Japanese thief (http://i50.tinypic.com/2ahup0m.jpg, http://japanesestudynow.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/thief.jpg) than anything else...so it could go down the Water/Dark path.

So, I say Chespin.

Water/Dark

That means fire's second type would have to be super effective against dark...oh no...

Froakie

For the past two gens the fire/fighting starters have had inspiration from two characters from a Chinese epic called A Journey (to the) West. Infernape is the Monkey King Sun Wukong,(Also the inspiration for Goku in DBZ) and Emboar is the pig demon Zhu Baijie. Now there's a third character called Sha Wajing, who is a WATER demon. If they continued the theme, it wouldn't make much sense for the starter based on a water creature to be part fire

Not necessarily. Lol. That is just if they try the second triangle that so many fans want. All that matters is that the first forms fit the Grass, Water, Fire, Grass triangle. Upon evolution, types can be anything.

Gen 1...
Grass / Poison, Water, Fire / Flying
Gen 2...
Grass, Water, Fire
Gen 3...
Grass, Water / Ground, Fire / Fighting
Gen 4...
Grass / Ground, Water / Steel, Fire / Fighting
Gen 5...
Grass, Water, Fire / Fighting
Gen 6...
Grass / ???, Water / ???, Fire / ???

In Gen 1, both of Charizard's types have an advantage over Venusaur's Grass giving Charizard a complete advantage over its rival. Whereas for the other two, it was just Grass beats Water and Water beats Fire.

In Gen 2, they were all (extremely boringly) single types, so it's just Grass beats Water beats Fire beats Grass.

In Gen 3, Sceptile had a major advantage over Swampert since both of Swampert's types are weak of Grass, giving Sceptile a complete advantage over its rival. Swampert also had a major advantage over its rival, Blaziken since Blaziken is weak to both of Swampert's types. Lastly, Blaziken's Fire beats Sceptile's Grass.

In Gen 4...I'm too sick to try and figure this one out. Lol

In Gen 5, Serperior's Grass beats Samurott's Water beats Emboar's Fire. Emboar's Fighting doesn't help him.

So, in conclusion, the types of the final form mean nothing when comparing the starters. By the time you have a final form starter, you generally have other pokemon to take out with advantages.

P.S.
If anything is incorrect, I apologize. As I said above, I am sick and should be sleeping, but my insomnia won't allow that.
