It doesn't make sense. at all. One of those iron spikey roller things is used for the animation. -my girlfriend <3 -I love her so much ^_^

Megahorn and X-Scissor are also Bug-type.

It's "Hard Roller" in Japanese, and it's almost exclusive to the Venipede line, which should give some indication that it's supposed to be a Roly Poly reference.

Yeah, I remember back in Gen II I was especially confused as to why Megahorn was a Bug-type move. Then I remembered Crabhammer and since then have accepted that some moves are typed only for the purposes of STAB for the Pokemon that get the move.

Dual Chop is another Gen V move that has a type that was only chosen to give STAB to the Pokemon who learn it (which before BW2 consisted of Pokemon in only two lines, both Dragon-type).
