What are your favorite gym leaders from the past five generations?
You can explain why though it's not absolutely neccesary..
Here is mine:

Kanto - Lt Surge. I don't know why, but I always find him epic as heck.. that attidude and the awesome electric types he has :3

Johto - Jasmine: I always loved the steel type, from the moment I laid my eyes on Jasmine and her Steelix to Byron and his Bastiodon.. Jasmine may be shy but can be quite difficult if you don't know what your doing.. To bad she only has two different Pokémon in her team when you face her (Being two the same Magnemite and Steelix)

Hoenn - Flannery: Her Gym looks awesome, her Pokémon are actually quite tough and the fact that she only became a gym leader for a short time just adds to it.

Sinnoh - Maylene: Maylene is awesome. Her gym in Platinum is awesome and her team is well balanced and great. Plus you can encounter her on route to Snowpoint City and in Pokémon HeartGold in Celadon City!

Unova - Marlon: Next to steel types, water types have always been my favorite. The Humilau Gym looks absolute stunning (even though it's not really fitting for the last gym..) Marlon is one relaxed and funny dude and has different Pokémon that can make it very difficult to defeat him if your underleveld..

Gen I - Koga. Well, he's a ninja and uses some pretty awesome Pokémon.

Gen II - Janine (you did say generation, not region) for basically the same reason as Koga.

Gen III - A toughie; maybe Juan? Decent Pokémon (well, helps to be the final gym) and a snappy dresser.

Gen IV - Crasher Wake. Has his own theme song, specialises in my favourite type and does a good job with that.

Gen V - Drayden. Do I need explain why? Dat beard and dose dragons.

I picked mostly male gym leaders because I feel Game Freak does make female gym leaders terribly generic (especially in Johto) with emphasis on impractical outfits, being more or less the same age, and mediocre Pokémon compared to their male counterparts. Gen V has improved on that though.

Kanto: Lt. Surge: Sexiest Gym Leader and uses my favorite type

Johto: Jasmine, no clue why but I liked her more than any other gym leader in Johto

Hoenn: Wattson: uses my favorite type and is jovial old fat man.

Sinnoh: Volkner, cuz Jolteon

Unova: Drayden, 2nd sexiest Gym leader ever and uses Dragon types

Hoenn: Flannery. Come on, she's Flannery

Sinnoh: never played gen 4

Unova: Although Clay's gym was more of a pain in the butt I'm still choosing Skyla.

Gen 1 - Koga and Erika. I can't really choose between them.

Gen 2 - Whitney for sure. She was the most challenging gym leader if you didn't know what you were doing.

Gen 3 - Wattson for looking jolly.

Gen 4 - Byron because I like Canalave City

Gen 5 - They all suck.

Gen I: Either Lt. Surge or Blaine.

Gen II: Either Chuck or Pryce.

Gen III: Wattson

Gen IV: Crasher Wake

Gen V: Drayden

So, in short, I tend to like whoever is the manly and/or cool old guy.
Uh... Zoop.

Kanto - Sabrina. She was really fun.
Johto - Probably Chuck. I dunno why I liked him so much.
Hoenn - Wattson. He was just awesome.
Sinnoh - I dunno... I never played the Sinnoh games. The only leader that comes to mind is Byron.
Unova - Drayden, easily. I wonder if he has another Haxorus under that beard...?
I'm not easily impressed; I'm usually oblivious to whatever's in front of me.

Kanto - Blaine
Johto - Morty
Hoenn - Flannery
Sinnoh - Volkner
Unova V1 - Skyla
Unova V2 - Drayden

The only reason Drayden isn't my favorite of the original Unova leaders is that I had White, and had to fight Iris instead.

Gen1 - Honestly, Blaine. He's ironically a cool guy.

Gen2 - Whitney, also my favorite female gym leader. Her Miltank was indeed as tough as people say.

Gen3 - Flannery, second favorite female gym leader.

Gen4 - CRASHER WAKE! A paragon of manliness! Also the only Gym Leader to ever use my favorite Pokemon of all time! (Empoleon, which he uses in the PWT.)

Gen5 - A tie between Iris and Marlon. Hey look, a convenient way to get an equal amount of guys and girls on my list!
