But Ash is a paradox. While he from time to time manages to save some places from destruction and such, he is still a subpar trainer. Not to mention he is Poke-Peter Pan.

a) This is completely uncomfirmed. The guy who originally posted it could have easily made it up.
2) Ho-Oh apparently was not one of the "49 excluded Pokemon" according to the "developer being interviewed."

Ash's special trait is not his aptitude for battle, but it's relationship toward his pokémon.

Mostly. He manages to save the world sometimes because who needs logic in the anime.
