Water/Dragon and Fire/Dragon would have no weaknesses in gen one due to the lack of normally damaging dragon moves. Gyarados and Charizard aren't dragon type at least partially because of balancing issues in gen one.

Why wouldn't Rock and Ground hurt Fire/Dragon?

You're right, I was parroting a post I saw regarding Gyarados that threw in a Charizard mention. Charizard would still have unresisted Stab though.

Fire/Dragon.

He's clearly designed based on a dragon, and its a far better typing with unresisted STAB coverage from Fire Blast and Draco Meteor (Heatran only resists it because of Flash Fire). Give it a White-Herb and its a boss of a sweeper.

and zekrom fanboyz would bash him for being related to reshiram.

Are you actually suggesting that Charizard and Gyarados aren't based on dragons? You have to be blind not to see that.

Salamander and sea serpent.

Yes, because when Game Freak made Gen 1 they really cared about balance.

Look at a European dragon and look at a Chinese dragon. Now look look at Charizard and Gyarados. The resemblance is pretty clear. All Salamander-like traits are lost with Charmeleon by the way.

And yes, they did care about balance. That's why Ghost types were supposed to be immune to Psychic types. The only reason they weren't was because of a glitch.

Nope.

Thus why Ghost-types were advertised as taking neutral damage from Psychics in every official source.

I don't think you have hate-blind denial.

Dragon/Fire would ground Charizard, but that could be solved with a simple Levitate, which would make it even more OP. Of course, I would change Charizard's line from from a starter to a pseudo-legendary. (It would probably become the best one too, with that type combination and skill.)
