Id probably be furious if there was no connection to old generations (or at least V). i mean they had the need to make Berries into Dream World-only stuff, not to mention items such as Light Balls being event only or something....or even Pokemon that was formally from Events being able to be downloaded via wifi.
If Gamefreak thinks refreshing the items/event-uniqueness of Pokemon was right, just imagine how many hackers would flock to the 3DS once an extremely major game comes about, i mean there's one handheld that probably wouldn't have been noticed if it wasn't for Disgaea, FFX+X-2, MGS or even possibly Persona....yeah.

At this point, with my expectations so high, I'd probably buy it anyway. But I would also drop out of Pokémon when the next generation was announced for the next Nintendo handheld, because I wouldn't trust Game Freak anymore.
Seriously, why would anyone support this BS? And for those who do, I hope you have better reasons than the ones listed here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/696959-pokemon-x/65926668 Yes, I'm going to bring my own topic on the matter of removing backwards compatibility EVERY TIME someone tries to support it.
Anyway, I'm confident that backwards compatibility will still be there in Gen VI; there's NO PLAUSIBLE REASON for it to go, and Game Freak knows it's shooting itself in the foot if it chooses to remove it.
