I don't see why they'd be so bad. they could also even BUFF some moves.

BURN THE WITCH!

Too complicated basically, and too much potential for being OP.

With single-type moves, using just STAB and weaknesses, it's possible to get 6x damage on a dualtype.

With dualtype moves, it's possible to get 9x damage. On a monotype. Don't even ask about dualtypes.

That assumes the multipliers work as they do now. Now, can you come up with a simple intuitive easy-to-understand easy-to-remember way to make the damage work without allowing double-digit damage multipliers?

I could accept it if it was, say, a multi-hit attack like Dual Chop where the first hit is of one type and the second hit is another type. That way you sort of circumnavigate the over-the-top multipliers problem. Anything beyond that is a slippery slope towards being way too complicated and broken.

I disagree. Dual-type moves would be wholly unnecessary.

triple type moves would just be pushing it.
Double type moves are fine.

I like the idea about taking the STAB of one type, but hitting with effect of one type.

Making up a move…

Smoke Bomb
Fire Type Move
15 PP
90 BP
When this move is used, it gains STAB if the user is a Poison type.

Koffing uses this on Pichu, it hits 1.5 for STAB
Koffing uses this on Oddish, it hits x2 for SE (Fire>Grass) and x1.5 for STAB (Poison).
Charmander uses this on Oddish, it hits x2 for SE (Fire>Grass) and x1.5 for STAB (Fire).
Charmander uses this on Pichu, it hits 1.5 for STAB
Smeargle uses this on Pichu, no change.
Smeargle uses this on Oddish, it hits x2 for SE (Fire>Grass).

That could work.
