I thought this would be an interesting question to ask to everyone, since I have a few friends that either like to battle a lot of the trainers or just avoid them to make the game harder for them.

For me, I just like to battle every trainer if it's possible. If I'm running low on health, I just go back to the nearest Pokemon Center, and then I come back for more battles.

How do you guys go about this? Do you tend to battle a lot of trainers in your playthroughs, or do you have a habit of just trying to ignore most of them?

In the beginning, I normally only battle who I need to create a clear path between cities/towns. I explore and battle everyone else after beating the E4.
why Leafs why...

Yes. Only on the path I'm taking though. If its like heading to an alternate route or area I leave them alone so once I pass them and I see they want to battle I know I havent been there yet.

For most games, I take the "if you cross my path, you must die!" approach. Pokémon is no exception.

So yes, I battle each and every Trainer that appears in my way. The only exception are those annoying Breeders in B2&W2 who always challenge me over and over again, which I never battle more than once because their Pokémon are always the same.

I battle most of them, but if I feel that my pokemon are getting too high in level, I start avoiding them.

I did in BW because of diminishing returns; if you come back with stronger Pokémon, you get less experience, so it's good to battle everyone while you're there. Probably will in XY too.
For those of you starting topics about the PS4, there's a PS4 board:

  3. Do you tend to battle all of the trainers?
