It's going to be a pure Fairy type that evolves into Water/Fairy. We've seen the original pics of Marril. They obviously wanted it to be a Fairy all along, which is why Azurrill was Normal. Fairies, like sound based Pokemon, were just kind of lumped in to the Normal type.

It becoming a fairy would be very funny with the whole gender change thing. XD
Oh wait, it already is as Marill is already a fairy and it's Marill who switches gender. XD

I think the baby forms like Igglybuff and Azurill will keep their Normal type.

So you think Azurill will be Normal type and evolve into a Water/Fairy? Pokemon rarely ever completely change type when they evolve. An obvious exception is Eevee.

As long as they make it happy again. Maybe giving it Fairy could cheer it up.
