something i was randomly thinking about. i mean all starters are fire/water/grass. a nice little trio. and the first eeveelutions seem odd that they didn't go the same route. not to mention you see that same trio in gen2 with the legendary beast trio. and in a way the bird trio with fire, electric, ice (frozen water).

so why do you think they didnt stick with that trio with those?

Fire/Ice/Electric seems to be a recurring trio, such as Reshiram/Kyurem/Zekrom or Flamethrower/Ice Beam/Thunderbolt.

Fire/Water/Electric, though, I guess because of Stones?

I'm aware, but GF seems fond of trios.

Also because Leafeon came in Gen IV

I also wondered why it wasn't Fire/Water/Grass. I remember when I was a kid I kept trying to give Eevee a Leaf Stone, and was wondering why it wasn't working.

Because Game Freak really didn't like Grass types back then for some reason.

This.

It's like this board thinks there has to be some kind of logical explanation or reason for everything about these games.
Yes, my name is supposed to be "SoleEater" and not "Soul Eater".

Because there were a lot of Grass types but not enough Electric types.
