What makes Tri Attack a Normal move?
What makes Pursuit a Dark move? Same with Beat Up.
What makes Mega Punch a Normal move?
What makes Cut a Normal move but Fury Cutter and X-Scissor Bug moves?

...we could probably play this game for awhile.

Pursuit makes sense, its basically attacking someone as they try to run away, the ultimate cheapshot

I can answer Beat Up. Most Dark type moves are underhanded and dirty ways of fighting. Ganging up on your opponent to beat him/her up is not a very honorable move, now is it?

And Tri Attack, well, it would be like 3 types at once, so they went with the type that represents neutrality, I think.

It may not be honourable, but if you want to win you can't take risks.

This is agree with.

Kinda depends on whether you're looking for a logical answer or a serious answer...

Logical answer: Don't ask me, lol

Serious answer: Cuz GameFreak wanted it to be that way

I think there's some Japanese ghost that prefers to lick its victims. Someone clarify, if possible.

Apparently it's a Filipino thing, but in my amazing opinion, that's way too obscure to actually consider.

I think they just made Lick a Ghost type move because they felt like it. I doubt there's much of an actual reason.

Don't you remember Haunter licking that poor Charmander in the intro?
