But the pokemon barely needs 18 evolutions. It certainly doesn't need 36 or 342 like TC wants.
Where did you get that number? Counting Eevee and excluding fusions, we're going to have 18 Pokémon in the same family. If you add up fusions, the total is 154. You seriously fail in mathematics.
No. Absolutely not. The last thing we need is half the dex being taken up by new Eeveelutions >_>
It's inevitable, one day there will be thousands of Pokémon and 153 Eeveelutions won't seem that much.
I outright multiplied, not accounting for doubles or the even split. Personally don't see any difference in 153 or 342 other than semantics. Though to be fair, my count was of total evolutions and you didn't exclude doubling. So 153 isn't right.
It's the elemental of fire and a spirit of fire. You really don't know what fairies are.
By "either definition", I meant the real salamander and the mythical fire lizard known as a salamander. Those are the only types of salamanders that get mentioned these days, except in an extremely small number of cases.
Regardless, you should get a name that fits a fusion of Flareon and Sylveon. A name that the vast majority of people would associate with a creature resembling lizards would not resonate too well with a supposed fusion of Flareon and Sylveon.
