New generation = new region = new pokemons. Its their moment to shine, so I will only use Kalos pokemons. I will get the Torchic event and a Kanto starter, evolve them up to their stage 2 evo., then box them.

The original Kanto trio starters are my favorite, sadly. I still don't know what I want to do yet lol.. My original plan was going to be me using Skrelp and Froakie as the only water Pokemon on my team, but since yesterday I've been wanting to find a way to get Squirtle in the team, but then I'll have too many water Pokemon. I'll probably just box him and use him after I'm done with the game for competitive..

I hate this region for having so many cool looking Pokemon :P

I never even liked the Kanto starters that much.

Exactly, they're my least favourite of the 5 Gens.

I won't use the Squirtle I plan on getting. Although I will train it if there's a Battle Tower/Subway style facility in the game. I love doing the Multi Battles. :)
Please check out my YouTube channel. I do game walkthroughs.

I plan on using Kalos Pokemon, that's the whole point of a new region to me. let the new Pokemon shine and not drown them out with nostalgia.

Pretty much this. Im planning to avoid any non-Gen 6 Pokemon until postgame.
Freiza may be cool, but his brother is..... COOLER(get it?)

I don't really care about using only Pokemon of the same gen, only whether or not I've used that Pokemon before. I'll sometimes make exceptions for certain Pokemon I like, but recently I've been trying to get into the habit of using species I've not properly trained, or only used for a small amount of time before boxing. Hence, I was ORIGINALLY planning to use Bulbasaur if I even used a Kanto starter at all...but then they showed the Mega Evolutions, and well, I've technically never used a Mega Charizard before...and the Charmander line is my favorite line of Pokemon ever, period, so. No, it's not gonna bother me. Perhaps on subsequent playthroughs I won't use the Kanto starter, but in my initial run I NEED to have Charmander on my team. The rest of my potential lineup so far looks pretty Kalos only anyways, so it won't bother me that much.

I am not sure.

I played red/blue/yellow to death, and most of my favorites are from gen 1.
I emud gold and used only gen 2 pokes
then I skipped some editions
In white I only used gen 5 pokes, by default
so I guess I am only playing gen 6 pokes for a fresh experience. On the other hand I didn't play gen 1 in ages, I didn't really play gen 2 and I never played 3 and 4.

Maybe it is time to choose a mixed gen team this time.

and it also depends when I'm able to catch what Pokemon.

In the end: I don't know, I'll just go with the flow

I like the Kanto starters fine, but the thing is, I already have Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise on my rotation of in-game teams of the past- in the post-game, I rotate my in-game team to include Pokémon I've used in-game before, and as a self-imposed rule, I don't do duplicates. This is only for teams I really feel I've bonded with, however.

Also, I've already pretty much decided on Chespin as my Grass-type, Litleo as my Fire-type, and Skrelp as my Water-type.

My first time through the game, I don't plan on using them so I can try more new Pokémon. I might use them on a future playthrough, however.

Honestly, I'm thinking that this is more about picking a Kanto starter Mega Evolution than about picking a Kanto starter. My guess is that each starter will come holding their final evolution's respective Mega Stone, and there'll be no other in-game way to obtain them, meaning you'd have to trade to get the other two. If that is indeed the case, I'll be picking Squirtle and getting the other two through X.

Are you implying that Kalos is better than Kanto?

He might not, but I will.

I'm not a big fan of Kanto or Johto. I find their mons a bit boring for the most part compared to more modern mons (with some exceptions though, like Misdreveous). I'm actually pretty disappointed that older mons didn't get an art style update as the art style for the mons evolved over the years. The sound quality of their cries hasn't been brought up to date either.

As for the "mega evos" for the original starters... We have Venasaur with a flower, a Charizard with an attitude, and JumboGamemon. Yeah... I'm gonna box them and trade them to someone who cares. They're just wasted on me.

Call me crazy, but I prefer Gen III+ designs, despite having played the games since they first came out. I know it's an unpopular opinion, but... well, I just don't like the originals as much.
