I go back to Emerald, LeafGreen and the Gen 4 installments(Platinum and HeartGold) every once in a while. infact, I just started another HG playthrough. The Gen 2 remakes seem to be very fun IMO.

I can't go back to the old old games though(RBY). Yes I grew up with them, but now they're just too archaic and flawed for an enjoyable playthrough, for me atleast.

I tend to find it difficult because I get so used to the new mechanics. Gen IV had really slow battles and anything before that just annoys me because of the lack of physical/special split.

I usually never replay any of my old games, unless the Save data got erased for some odd reason.

This goes for ANY game I own.

I replay old games occasionally.

And for some reason holes keep appearing in my collection between gens. For example, I noticed that in 4 - > 5, for some odd reason I had no Spindas. Gen 3 -> 4, Politoed did the vanishing act. Theres probably more, but none come to mind.

For anyone who does competitive, theres the old move tutor moves, I guess.

Not really. I like how the series grows and evolves, and I like utilizing the new features. I don't like going back to the old ones simply because it's basically just removing features. It's not like Dragon Quest Monsters or the Digimon games, where whole battle systems changed as the games went on.

I'm constantnly replaying Gens 3 and 4, and the only reason I rarely play Gen 1-2 is because I'd get too attached to the Pokemon and not be able to transfer them forward.
I'm not a GRRL gamer; I'm just another kid who had a Nintendo and never grew out of it.
