I think GF just doesn't want the games to be too hard. The main story, anyway. Battle Frontiers are hax central but at least you don't have to beat those to progress the story. The devs seem legitimately concerned that if the game's too tough/complicated for younger players they'll get frustrated and move on to something else.

Which is funny with games like Rayman origins and Legends are both decently challenging and kids can play and beat them.

I don't like this either :/

It's fine for the first 2 or 3 gym leaders but after that they need to go from 4-5.

I'd say 6 but that's usually reserved for the champion.

If it were up to me I'd have each gym limit the pack items usable in battle as well.

They need to make a challenge mode standard in all games. So the players that want the extra challenge can have it
