Yeah I was thinking rock/dark too. Although if for some reason it's not a fossil I could see it being dragon/dark.

Give it a ability that boosts stats in doubles/triples/rotation battles because of the hunting in packs thing (actually call the ability: pack hunter)

make it like 3-5 different forms. For each form on the battlefield it 's Attack and Speed got buffed by 15%

I'd say the most plausabel typings are:
Rock/Dark(as you know they would be made as a fossil Pokemon)
yeah KillerMechanoid is probably on par here
but you could also see
Rock(it would be a fossil)/thematic type(they could probably pull off a grass, fire, electric or dragon secondary successfully)
expect it to have crit moves hone claws swords dance, agility, focus energy etc....
could see it getting a wide variety of contact moves especially ones related to teeth and claws...

There is still one thing I don't get about fossils... why are Lileep and Cradily fossil Pokemon... Crinoids aren't extinct...

Fire/Grass.

First, it's a typing I've been dreaming of.

Second... well, it would probably look really cool :P

I considered this: Rock/Fighting
Unique type combination and makes sense considering the 'raptor's aggressive nature as a hunter.
* SharpTalon Fossil-->Raptorr-->Rexorr (Velociraptor-like evolves into T.rex-like)
Possible Abilities: Tough Claws, Hyper Cutter, Rivalry, Intimidate, Moxie
Signature move: Slash Kick (Fighting)
Learns Iron Tail, Hi Jump Kick, Mega Kick, Double Kick, Bite, Crunch

Rock/Dark.

Rock because it'd be a Fossil Pokemon.
Dark because raptors were ambush, pack hunters and Dark type is famous for dirty fighting tactics like ambushing and ganging up.
