If Zen Mode healed Darmanitan up to 66% and gave it a slightly better defense boost it could have some use. Darmanitan is frail enough that an attack strong enough to activate Zen Mode will knock it's hp low enough to make Z!Darmanitan's beefy defense boost useless.

Hey guys, let's take a Pokemon with fantastic Attack and bad defenses, and turn it into a tank when its HP gets low!
Of course, since we're buffing those defenses, we have to compensate by lowering its Speed a lot, so then it will almost never attack first, and because of it being already at low health, it will most certainly faint immediately. Oh and just to make things interesting, let's make its Special Attack its dominant attacking stat! That way all those physical attacks Darmanitan usually uses will be completely worthless!

^Well, it's basically just an image on which I listed a bunch of facts that all seem to suggest the idea. For one thing, compare a blue, vulnerable, edible Pac-Man ghost to Zenmanitan. Much slower and more defensive than usual, when it's usually all about speed and attacking, and they even look similar, between the blue bodies, the yellow eyes, and the zigzag mouth. If memory serves, there was at least a bit more to it than that, but that point in and of itself is food for thought at the very least, wouldn't you say?
Nintendium - Opiate substance manufactured by Nintendo, it was hidden among uncirculated issues of Nintendo Power. The pages are uses has rolling papers to enhance the effect of what substance is rolled in them.
I made that up off the top of my head.
