Compared to Special, physical is relatively easy to deal with.
We have Intimidate, Will-o-wisp, items like Rocky Helmet and abilities like Rough skin, as well as Cotton Guard. What do we have for special, conversely? Snarl, for one. Light Screen, though we have reflect as well, so I'd not count that.
I think it would be good if standard poison (note: NOT Toxic, only standard poison) acted like burn, in that it halved the affected mon's special attack. Considering that standard poison is now pretty pointless what with the overworld effect having been removed, I think this would be a good idea.
The only concern I have with this is with Toxic spikes, but I can't see that being any more of a problem than Stealth Rocks.
Blissey/Chancey. What kind of Physical Walls are there that REALLY shut down 80% of physical attackers?
I was going to post this. The blobs level the playing field a lot. Also, more top threats are physical in nature, so it makes sense there is more to stop them. Physical has almost all the priority and Dragon Dance. Special doesn't have much at all, and Special attacks are generally weaker then physical.
I'll think of something creative to put here another time.
They nerfed Special Attacks for this very reason. And the Poison idea makes no sense from a design standpoint. Also priority and boosting moves heavily favor physical attackers. If what you are saying was true, physical attackers wouldn't be prominent at all.
Wouldn't it be cool if we had an item that raises Special Defense by 1.5? Maybe some kind of vest?
