A mono fire team is basically going to be purely offensive.

If you really want to use Mega Houndoom, you're better off running a Sunny Day team so Mega Houndoom can make use of Solar Power and you've got a few types other than fire to deal with the ground and water types that are going to give you a lot of trouble otherwise.

Chlorophyll and Harvest users (generally grass types) are a good addition to a Sunny Day team and give you some valuable STABs and resists to work with. You could also consider a Mantine, who is immune to water and ground attacks, and its electric weakness can be dealt with by grass types that resist electric attacks.

The only rule here is that you can't remove Mega Houndoom. The whole reason I'm trying this monotype team is because I want to experiment with it

TC wants to run mono-fire without Charizard Y (who would be another pokemon capable of bringing insta-sun for the team, solar beam to deal with rock-type pokemon and is immune to the dreaded earthquake) or Charizard X, who has a very nice neutral to water. I'm saying if TC is so set on running Mega Houndoom, he should try a Sunny Day team instead of Mono-fire, in which he can also run his Mega Houndoom and have other pokemon of different types to support it too.

I battled a mono fire team yesterday in triples

I actually almost lost until I started cranking out the water spouts with mega blastoise

mono fire without sun settler is very hard. Also Fire pokemons take neutral damage from water under the sun if that pokemon is not fire/rock or fire/ground. So praise your sun.
