oh no

Congratulations, you are a fish. Specifically you have been transformed into Mermaid Dude from the Bring Me the Blistering Ocean music video. It mostly consists of stylized, artistic nonsense like dark clouds and thunder swirling above... tidal waves smashing into rocks and knocking down lighthouses, and people from the sea coming up on the waves and making grand gestures while metal music plays loudly.

Halfway through the video a giant troll emerges from a vortex in the sky. Mermaid Dude and all the other sea creatures band together to bring him down. There's a kraken, a giant whale with a horn (dubbed Unicorn Whale), plenty of dolphins, and a guy riding on a sea turtle for good measure. At the end the president of Eagle Country is shown furiously mashing his NUCLEAR FIRE button.

After firing a bunch of nukes into the ocean and blowing up most of the planet, the dust settles and there is only ruin and death left behind. Mermaid Dude collapses on the beach and dies just as the last note of the song rings out.

You are Admiral Barnes, of the Blue Fleet a pirate whose noteworthy feats include conquering the known world and really pissing people off in 'Who Would In in a Fight?' topics. Barnes seems to be impossible to kill by any conventional or unconventional means. His innate ability allows him to passively absorb and counter the powers and abilities of any opponents he faces. To complicate matters further he appeared in a crossover comic where he killed Popeye the Sailor and Bluto in a 2 v 1.

Barnes suffered an unfortunate accident while on a voyage. After being told "Hey, don't touch that Cursed Vase" he touched it anyway. Whoops. Barnes was spirited to the Realm of Death and forced to make a wager for his life. This is where things get interesting. Barnes made a wager with death that he would "lose his wager." If Barnes won, that meant he would have lost. If Barnes lost, it would have meant that he had won. This paradox destroyed the power that Death held over Barnes and allowed him to return to the living and be free from Death forever.

Normally Barnes body would rot over time, but the Curse actually put his body in a weird sort of stasis that keeps him alive. Free from aging and free from Death itself, Barnes seems basically impossible to get rid of. While people don't particularly love the source material or the character, it's hard to deny that you can make really annoying arguments for the guy to win just about any battle.

You might now be asking yourself "Okay, so I get how he is immortal, but what causes him to absorb and counter other powers and special abilities?" And this is pretty much the reason why people hate him. This is never sufficiently explained in the comics. It's just something that he does.
