fwiw there are many more bottles and uses for them in MM than OoT, and I think there's even a bottle more in 3DS MM than N64 MM

What is the point of him going to get the Captain mask or whatever it's called..why go to the canyon at all?

yet all sailors of all sorts are more or less capricious and unreliable - they live in the varying outer weather, and they inhale its fickleness

But why though?
It's pretty clear that the destination is the ocean area and not the canyon
Well I guess some people like to explore until they get hit by a wall or something

Although to be honest I am more in favor of leaving the whole Ikana experience to be played in one go from start to finish, as this is the best area in the game
From the Music Box House, to the fight against the ghost brothers, to the Ancient Castle and then ascending the Stone Tower and reaching the Stone Tower Temple

Or he could...do it how he wants? The game isn't a railroad. Anything to avoid a stealth section is a smart play in my book. Zelda stealth sections suck.

To get it while you're getting the stone mask, and thus in the area anyway. Which makes the Fort far easier.

Which is no longer IN Ikana in the 3DS version, but hey.
There's always hope for better things in life. But you can't let anything, friend, lover,God himself,be your hope. You have to be your own hope

Why not?

Exploration is one of the best things about Zelda.

I don't even remember why I decided to go to the graveyard. I just did. It's a separate section from the rest of the Ikana area so it didn't feel like I was going too far.
