Rsident Evil Gaiden came out in 2001. Could this be its moment to shine?
I used the knife. I saved a child. I won a war. God forgive me.

2009 way too high. When your strongest game is Arkham Asylum, you're not gonna be high tier.

this is what happens when Allen tries to create a "rally-proof" contest I guess

I don't find this interesting at all. It's too broad of an idea and I don't really care about what year a game came out, but I'm fine with it as long as it's a Villains/Series Contest and we're getting another one later this year

I think this is a pretty neat idea, and most of all, I'm excited for a new contest! Thanks for putting it together SBAllen.

This has to be, without a doubt, the hardest contest to "root" for an entrant, so I can see why people would be less hyped for it because of that. Still, it should also really mitigate the trolling and animosity that we sometimes drum up during contest season. If I had to guess, I'm expecting the least "dramatic" contest we've ever had, but it could be the most amiable and laid-back as well.

i'm absolutely looking forward to this one
You did indeed stab me in the back. However, you are only level one, whilst I am level 50. That means I should remain uninjured.

I mean, I'm sure I'll get on board with the actual nuts and bolts of matches if they're exciting. There have been plenty of matches that I've loved where I haven't cared about anyone involved, but I have nothing I feel like rooting for here.

Oh and @SBAllen, I'm not sure if this has been discussed, but are you planning on randomizing the bracket, or just organizing it chronologically? I think this board would be heavily in favor of a randomized approach the pits different eras against each other (like 1985 vs 2016 would be an awesome Round 1 match to see how people's reverence for Mario would hold up against the most modern gaming). And it would help avoid the problem of having the heavy hitters from the 90s cannibalize each other early - 1997 vs 1998 is a potential final, so it would be a shame to get that in Round 1.
