When you don't remember someone's name right now, you say "I ____ their name"

Forget and didn't think of it as wrong before. It could work if you're establishing an ongoing pattern.

I use forget when I mean I regularly do it.

But forgot as a present single instance always

"I forgot their name" makes it sound like I completely forgot, and it's not going to come back to me. If I'm confident I know their name but I just can't think of it right now, "I forget."

I am glad the correct option is here but appalled that only 19.23% of people have selected it.
I guess DpObliVion gets to be in my sig now. His knowledge of video game popularity contests far surpasses my own.

Is forget incorrect, though?

Forgot is past tense. As in I forgot it yesterday. That isnt what in mean. I didn't forget it in the past. I'm forgetting it RIGHT NOW. Forgot seems wrong.
