This is pretty big and pretty key to get right, is it not?

Absolutely. It's also a long shot. If Trump wants to get involved in Syria, he doesn't need an excuse. If someone wants to provoke Trump into getting involved in Syria, they've got no reason to think that a faked chemical attack is the thing that would do it.

The notion that Assad made a strike on rebels who had chemical weapons and set them off, now... I wouldn't expect the rebels to have access to a great deal of chemical weaponry. But then, I really don't know much about the Syrian conflict; perhaps they captured some of Assad's in the early parts of the war. Or perhaps it's easier to synthesize military-grade chemical weapons than I would like to think. It's certainly more plausible than a false flag operation.

Which seems quite plausible and makes a LOT more sense then "Assad does the one thing that is pretty much guaranteed to ensure he loses in order to kill a few dozen random civilians" does.

You think Assad's going to lose, now? I wish I was that optimistic.

New President, new administration. New rules? Who knows? Trump condemned the idea of getting involved in Syria, and if he has any sympathy for Syrian refugees, it doesn't extend to giving them shelter. If Trump's response to being notified of a chemical attack in Syria were "Not my problem", I think a lot of Americans would be disappointed, and a lot of them would be relieved, but very few of them would be surprised. So for Assad to test the waters with a quick war crime, just to see whether or not anyone important cares now, does not strike me as an act of insanity.

Chemical weapons are literally WW1 era tech. Super easy to make. Also the rebels are financed by the US and tons of other rich countries, so they could be buying them as well. Anything Assad could feasibly get his hands on, they can too.

You think Assad's going to lose, now? I wish I was that optimistic.

If Trump keeps interfering, absolutely. It's not that he was guaranteed to win before. It's that the only thing that could GUARANTEE he loses is pissing off the US such that they decide to make him the next Saddam/Kaddafi. And keep in mind, they didn't just "lose," they were executed in the public square. Assad is an English educated ophthalmologist. Why on Earth would he adopt the model of, "Gee, I should do the same thing Saddam Hussein did. That'll work out really well."

Which means it's a good idea for Assad to figure out how far he can go before he pisses off the new administration of the U.S.

The most insane meme I've seen is people saying, explicitly, that Obama/Hillary's bombings of Syria was okay because they allowed Syrians to wait 18 months for a 1% chance at coming to the US as refugees

Like the only reasons bombing and killing hundreds of civilians is immoral is if you don't allow them to a chance to escape to your country

Read the article.

It's pathetic. Closes by saying "but we CREATE JOBS and PAY A LOT OF TAXES!!!"

Concedes the point that it's not actually about taste by complaining that people don't know craft-sounding breweries are actually owned by InBev.

This is not an anti craft beer article. This is an article from a craft beer guy crying that people aren't buying enough of his product.
