I keep falling into the water and I'm getting sick and tired of reloading from the title screen.

The fire that sprouts out on the catwalk bridge to the right can't be put out either.

Look in FP mode before jumping. If you are lined up correctly you wont need to turn your head to get the platform to the middle of the screen. Make sure you have enough space on the pipe to initiate the flip.

Coolant puts out fire. Just keep spraying the base of the fire for about five seconds until it's put out. Also, you don't have to reload every time. Just hit continue, and keep practicing. If you're going for a no death game, reload after you learn how to do it.

I suppose I should have clarified. The fire that breaks out after you head out on the catwalk to the right, which prevents you from easily flipping onto the former direct entrance into Shell 2, cannot be extinguished. I thought it was a bug at first when I played the PC version, but now I think it was a conscious choice by the developers.

So you can't flip onto the other end of the bridge by the broken platform on the south side of the former connection? But isn't the pipe leading to the other side too narrow to flip over to the broken platform leading to the suppressor? Where should I stand to flip over?

You don't flip from the pipe.

After the fight, you'll be standing on the southern portion of the pass. There will be a flat piece directly north of you sticking out at an angle. Not what you dangle from, but what you can run and flip off of. It's a 20 foot drop/gap you need to clear.

I tried that strategy once. I can't tell which way to flip across though. Do I have to press triangle at the right moment to catch onto the edge of the other side's path?

I can't remember if you grab or not. I don't think so. You just have to cartwheel at the right angle and you'll land on the platform.

Thanks for the link. I tend to avoid video walkthroughs that are not on a capture card given the bad quality that results, but I guess this one had what I was looking for.

Finished the game on Easy tonight (needed dog tags). Too bad I didn't have much time to use the AKS-74u, Raiden's old signature weapon--Snake doesn't even toss ammo for it to you in the Sigmoid Colon Fight.
