In Kingdom Hearts II, why did they make the music stop during the cutscenes?

They didn't do this in the original game. In the first Kingdom Hearts, music continued to play during cutscenes. But in the second game, the music stops completely. I've heard someone say that this is a difference of style between Eastern film and Western film. Apparently, Japanese movies are quiet during moments of intense dialogue so you can focus more on the words. American movies play music even when people are talking, but that doesn't explain how the same Japanese company developed both games...

I remember the music stopping during cutscenes in the first game as well.

It's probably so we can actually hear what the characters are saying.
Well, what does little miss "I'm so special the Fade shines out my bum" want from me?
